Wednesday hump

Short week this week, because of Labor Day Monday, but it still feels like the week is taking forever!

I'm posting from work, so there are no pix of Maymont Park, or of the cool glass pendant I was given by Tammy at TNK last night....I'll post them tomorrow.

Kira had a great day, it seems. She pronounced her teacher "very beautiful", told me she had four kids -- all girls!, and said that she (Kira) was planning to have a great year with no behavior problems or anything, so that her car wouldn't move and she would get a reward. The car is a behavior tracker that her teacher apparently uses for everyone in the class.

Kira brought home a spiral bound planner with her spelling words for the week in there, and a note about the test on Friday already. We practiced after dinner, and she got all 20 of them correct. So far, so good with the spelling. We had a very 'family-night' kind of evening.....good dinner, chat around the table, a game of Simon with Kira, some laughing and joking, helped her with a computer game, and then I went to TNK. Travis discovered just how good her reading skills are becoming when she downloaded some stuff off the internet to play one of her Disney proncess Dress-Up games. "I read the box and it asked me if I wanted to download dresses from the internet, and I did, so I clicked it!"

When I got home, she was sound asleep, with a Clan An Drumma CD playing on her CD player and an array of stuffed animals around her on her new big bed. I practically had to climb into the bed to kiss her goodnight. Later, around 12:30, she got up to go to the bathroom, and came in and woke me for a hug and a kiss. Heh. She's so awesome. I love her so much. :)

She dressed up her backpack last night with some clip on teeny stuffed dogs she has collected, and I packed her another yummy lunch and a snack (second grade doesn't eat lunch until nearly 1:00!! Can you believe it!?). I filled out the usual back-to-school paperwork, but was a bit thrown off by the fact that her teacher didn't send home any kind of notes, or information about how the class runs or what the schedule is like for the day. I guess I'll find out sometime soon, maybe at Back to School night, whenever that is.

Today looks fairly busy; hopefully I will feel more motivated in a bit to get some backlogged paperwork done and get it off my desk. I feel a bit better, although my throat is scratchy and my nose is alternately stuffy and runny. Sinuses. Hate them.

More later.

(and yes, I am crossposting to Diaryland, because I am trying to decide if it's worth doing that or not....)
