Tuesday, Dec. 07, 2004 - 9:58 p.m. herding cats
So tonight was Knit Night…..although Travis went to fight practice (because he can!), so I took Kira with me. She had a great day at school, and I had told her we would do something special in the evening if her day was a good one. The ‘something special’ was a trip to the Barnes and Noble for hot chocolate and a cookie with her mommy, and some time hanging out with her favorite teacher – Mrs. Pollard. She had a great time, and was thrilled to see ‘her friend’ outside of school. I had planned for Jane to help me start on a hat for Kira (using circular needles, which I have never done before), and so I went and bought needles earlier today. I had apparently not paid much attention to what the pattern instructions said about needles, though, and bought a set that were waaaay too long for working a hat. I needed 16”, and somehow, I bought 29”. Sigh. I felt like a dork. So, no real knitting for me tonight. Just hanging out with Kira and the Knitting Ladies and drinking a chai tea latte (YUMMY!). It was like herding cats, however, to get Kira all together and get her through the store, out the door, home and into the tub, and finally to bed. I’m tired. I accomplished a lot on the Christmas prep today….but still there is a long list of things to do – both for Christmas, and for assorted other commitments, like Brownies, and my dad’s birthday (tomorrow – yikes!). We still haven’t gotten our Christmas cards done yet – and I forgot to buy stamps – and I have to do a few things for Brownies for this week. Plus, I really want to get the tree and put it up tomorrow night, after ballet….*whew*. I am really glad I’m so far ahead on the Christmas stuff, otherwise I would be * really* depressed about how behind I was! Did I mention how happy I am NOT to be making myself new garb for Saturday?? Travis and his three squires (they ALL went to practice – on the same day!) are out having a soda, so I have some quiet for a little while. I think I am going to knock out some of the Brownies stuff – notices to go home, and stuff like that – and then try my hand at starting the hat, now that I have the correct needles. More later…….
