it's Christmas
I explained to Kira this morning that an angel spoke to the people long long ago, and told them that the baby Jesus, who is the Lord, was born.
In her six year old way, she expressed her happiness and joy that an angel would come to tell of a birth.

It was a great evening, and she is asleep, having received a great wealth of gifts at her grandmother's house earlier this evening at a fine Christmas Eve family gathering. She has written a note for Santa, proudly arranged a tray of cookies, checked up on the Jolly Old Elf's position per NORAD on the computer, and gotten tucked away in her bed.
I'm sure she is dreaming of sugarplums....or in her case, Sugarplum Fairies.
The tree is lit, I am here, safe and warm with my dear husband, and we are all happy and healthy. I give thanks for my many blessings, and offer prayers of peace for those who are without at this time of the year.
