What is it about cleaning your tools and reorganizing your workspace that makes art appealing again? And creativity a way of life rather than an odd occurrance? I made a small glass piece for my kitchen window this afternoon, after scrubbing out the tray of my grinder and clearing off the worktable. I have a decent-size kitchen window that I like to hand suncatchers in, and I'm trying to make some for each season or holiday. The fall leaves have been hanging there since September, so I finally got enough oomph to make a star snowflake out of blue glass and diamond-shaped bevels. It came out well, and now I have set up my lampworking torch and dipped a dozen or so mandrels to make some beads. I meditated some, over the copper-foiling and soldering, and I thought about my next SCA project. I think it will be a portion of a grisaille window, and I'd like to try cutting and shaping the pieces without using my glass grinder. It'll be a lead-channel piece, so the perfection of the edges shouldn't matter as much. I found a window I like a lot, as the pattern is very similar to Celtic knotwork, but I need to look up a few things. I'm going to spend some time at Thjora's over University weekend, combing her art books for pix and examples. Yay! My handouts and outlines are all done for University! All I need to do is review the information and make sure I have all the things I need. I want to do some sewing for myself, too. I'm trying to decide if I should make some mundane (non-SCA) clothes, or do something home-dec-wise. There's no shortage of crafty and creative things to do around here. I have a tons of pictures to get scrapbooked into volume 2 of the SCA album. I have about 5 years of family pictures to get into a family album, too, as soon as I decide how I want to deal with the year 2000 pictures. Anyway. I'm hungry, folks are coming over tonight, and I want to vegetate in front of the TV for a bit. Have a great weekend! (By the way, the Girl Scout cookies will be delivered March 9-12. Email me at leofwynne1 at comcast dot net if you want to order. Rhiannon and Malcolm, Kira's got you on her order list already. ;) )
