surgery done

So, Travis is out of surgery and home. He did well, is feeling pretty decent, all things considered, and he does not have a hip-to-ankle cast on. Yay!

(thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers!)

We have eaten large amounts of food; because of the "no eating before surgery" rule, I did not have breakfast or coffee in some small effort of solidarity.

I was so hungry by the time we started towards home that I was having chest pains. A trip to Candela's solved it, and now, he is ensconced in his usual post-surgery place in the Command Chair. I think he's gone to sleep.

They took out just about all of his meniscus, and spent about 45 minutes scraping out all the scar tissue and adhesions that had formed in there. T says he can straighten his knee all the way now. YAY!

I certainly hope this is the last of the knee surgeries for a long long time. And no, he is not getting back into armour anytime soon. ;)

I started knitting on a sock while waiting for him....I had hoped to finish the poncho, but I ran out of yarn last night and didn't get to pick any up before this morning. Instead, I fumbled my way through the beginning of the Blueberry Waffle Socks pattern in a rainbow-colored wool yarn. I hope they aren't too scratchy when they are done. I cant wait to see how they turn out!

Learning more about knitting every day.....I discovered that I really do prefer to knit on smaller needles with a smaller gauge of yarn....much easier on the hands for me, for some reason.

Anyway.....got to get T an ice pack, and maybe run out to put gas in the car.

More later.
