Monday, Mar. 14, 2005 - 11:40 a.m. I really like the silks
Monday again. The sore throat and feeling of exhaustion I had on Friday night morphed into one of my legendary (to me, anyway) nightmare sore throats. The kind where I drool, am in pain even when I just breathe, and feel like I am going to swallow my tonsils. I seriously considered taking a vicodin or something for the pain, it was that intense. Thanksully, the nasty thing only lasted through the weekend, and there weren’t any more symptoms, so I didn’t run to the doc-in-the-box. Almost, though. If it had gone on into Sunday evening too much, then I would have worried. I certainly don’t need strep throat at my house. The weekend was good, sore throat aside. I discovered the joy that is Garden Ridge, and I can’t believe it took me this long to realize I needed to go there. Kira and I met up with my mom there, and did a little bit of shopping. She bought a GI-HUGE-IC silk palm tree for her living room, which was cool, and I found four painted tiles for my kitchen with Tuscan themes. I think I am doing “Italian” for my kitchen. I found a few other things, none of which I could justify affording right now…..like all-weather wicker furniture for my deck. The place is a basket-lover’s heaven, too, by the way. And the silk flowers….well, now I know why so many people I know have gotten silks for their wedding there. Anyway, after that, Kira and I went to Build-A-Bear Workshop in Stony Point, where I indulged my only daughter and let her choose and stuff the unicorn and dress it in a princess-fairy dress and also get the hat (a hennin!), wand, and jewelry for it. She had fun, and wants to go back, of course. I was actually checking the place out for a future scout troop field trip with our cookie money. They actually have scout uniforms for the animals, and now…I want one, too, with a Brownie uniform! It could be the troop mascot! I might just have to do that….wonder if the girls would let me…?? Sunday was a day of crafting with my girl. We painted some big drinking glasses with the glass paints I use for my stained glass, and then we made some paper flowers with coffee filters and markers, and then we experimented with shrink plastic, stamp pads, and paint to make some troop tokens for our camping trip. Fun! I did a gym run, which was good. Kira wanted to go in the pool, and I was all set for her to do that, but the kid’s area was closed so no pool. She was not happy. Maybe tonight we’ll go. Work is rolling along, no major issues for a change. Spring break is coming up, and I’m hoping to take a day or two off to spend with Kira. I can’t wait for spring this year; got a lot of plans for the yard, and some fun with Brownies planned, so it needs to hurry up and get warm and gorgeous! Ah, no sense rushing it. Time seems to be going by quickly enough.
