Monday, Mar. 28, 2005 - 11:19 a.m. rain, rain, go away!
So, Easter was nice, except for the crappy, crappy weather. I am done with the cold, wet slop. I’m sure I’ve said that before, but it bears repeating. We spent the holiday doing a lot of nothing. I read the paper early, and after Travis got up, I made the awesome potato and mushroom frittata with the shrooms sautéed in white wine and butter. And baking powder biscuits from scratch. Yum! I got a ton of Girl Scouts organizational stuff done, and Travis puttered around as well. We picked up Kira that evening, and she was happy to have her Easter basket, complete with silly putty and a new My Little Pony. She did mention, in her grown-up six-year-old way, that the eggs full of jellybeans were boring, so I guess the Easter Bunny will have to lay off those for next year. Oh well. Can’t hit it right all the time. Today sucks, weather-wise. Kira was supposed to have “Bike Day” at day care, and bring her bike to ride, but just as we were discussing it early this morning, there was a really loud clap of thunder that changed her mind about being outside with her bike. Tomorrow might be a better day for bikes. Wednesday I am off, and it will be a “Kira and Mommy Day”. I would like to take her to the movies, and she wants to go ice skating, so I think we have some good plans laid out thus far. The week seems fairly light, and I need to spend some time on Sapphire A&S stuff, but other than that, and work, nothing too major going on. The weekend is the same, low on the activities list, so maybe I can plan to get some cleaning done and maybe air out the house. I hate the end-of-winter musty and stale yuck. Funny, I feel sort of removed from SCA stuff, and although it isn’t necessarily a ‘break’ per se, I’m glad to have made some decisions about lightening my load. There really isn’t an event coming up that I want to go to, aside from Sapphire, so it’s nice to sort of leave off of being stressed about making a ton of garb or churning out glass projects. I have my next project for SCA purposes already mapped out in my mind, and I think it will be a long, slow summer project alongside some glasswork for my house. Have I mentioned how much I love my husband? He’s just wonderful and I’m so lucky and happy to have him. I just wanted to say that. I should get back to work. I’m envious of all of you who are on vacation now, especially you, Jane, since I have always wanted to go to Ocracoke and have never been!
